How long does brow dye last?

A brow dye is a semi-permanent treatment so it will eventually fade after a period. Thus how long does brow dye last?

1. What is brow dye?

What is brow dye?

The purpose of brow coloring, a semi-permanent dye, is to define and "fill in the gaps" for a more visible eyebrow. As simply, the client's brows become darker and fuller after the "brow dye" process. Many ladies enjoy dying their brows since they can provide the look of attractive and impressive eyebrows while being painless. There are other additional brow coloring tones available as well, providing the client with the choice of a more dramatic or natural-looking appearance. The main ingredients of brow dye are chemical. But don't worry, the brow color doesn't irritate because of the minimal chemical ingredient concentrations. Thus, if you take the appropriate procedures, you can ensure the safety of your clients and affect the longevity of brow dye on the client's brows and skin.

2. The longevity of brow dye

The longevity of brow dye

So, how long does brow dye last? A study shows that brow dye lasts longer than brow tint. But in reality, the period of brow dye and brow tint is similar. While the color on the eyebrows might last for about 5–6 weeks, the skin staining from eyebrow dye can fade after 5-6 days. In addition, the duration of brow dye also depends on the type of the client's skin and how the client takes care of eyebrows after dying. If the client has oily skin, brow dye can not last as long as usual. Furthermore, if the client doesn't take the right brow dye aftercare, the stain of the brow dye may fade more quickly.

3. Which affects the duration of eyebrow dye?

Which affects the duration of eyebrow dye?

The eyebrow dye color will gradually fade with time, but how quickly depends on several factors such as:

- The client's brow hair type

The hair type of your client also influences the longevity of eyebrow dye. If the client has slight and weak eyebrow hair, the stain of brow dye may fade more quickly than usual.

- The type of your client's skin

As mentioned above, the skin type also affects the brow dye duration. The stain of eyebrow dye will not last as long as usual on both the brows and skin of the client having oily skin because the natural oil on their skin will wash away the stain quickly.

- The type of brow product

The type of beauty product you use affects how long brow dye lasts on your client's eyebrows. The color retention effect of some eyebrow products is not very good, so the stain of brow dye will fade faster than usual.

- How well does the client care for the eyebrow

How the client takes aftercare of the eyebrow also affects the lifespan of brow dye. If the client doesn't take care of their eyebrow in the right way, the stain of brow dye will fade quickly.

- The sun exposure

If the client lets their eyebrow interact with the sun directly for a long time, it also influences the longevity of brow dye. So you should advise them to avoid spending extended periods in the sun.

- What type of makeup remover or face cleanser does the client use

Finally, the type of face cleanser or makeup remover the client uses also affects how long the brow dye lasts. Some kinds of makeup removers or face cleansers have strong detergent ingredients so they can wash away the stain of brow dye.

4. How to keep and maintain the brow dye?

How to keep and maintain the brow dye?

If the client wants their brow dye to last longer, you should tell the client to follow the guidelines of an easy aftercare routine and avoid specific products as part of maintenance. We will share tips to maintain the stain of brow dye straightforwardly.

The client should keep their brows away from water and steam to ensure they are not wet in the first 24 hours. In addition, when client takes a shower, they should try not to make their faces wet.
